UPCOMING EVENTS

We've heard it more times than we can count: "I don't like Chardonnay — but I do like Chablis." They're the same grape. This evening is built around that gap — between what people think Chardonnay is and what it actually does when it's made well. The date isn't a coincidence. 21 May is World Chardonnay Day, and there's no better evening to set the record straight!

Thursday Wine Tasting Club

2 1 S T M A Y | 7 : 3 0 P M - 9 : 3 0 P M

Six bottles. Six completely different expressions of the same grape—from unoaked Chablis on Kimmeridgian limestone to English Chardonnay, with Burgundy, California and Australia in between. Each one is chosen to show you what Chardonnay actually does when it's grown in the right place.

Bring a colleague, a friend, or come solo—there's always a seat at our table.

What you'll taste

A considered lineup of six Chardonnays, moving from the most restrained and mineral to the most textured and complex. Your ticket includes a generous tasting of all six wines along with light food pairings, enjoyed in a relaxed and sociable setting at The Abbey Mill.

About your host

Your tasting is led by Carley Bassett, founder of The Grapeful Society — a modern wine platform built around the idea that wine should feel confident, not complicated. With a background in the wine industry and multiple wine qualifications, Carley's tastings are warm, approachable and full of stories you'll actually remember — with practical tips you'll use the next time you're standing in front of a wine shelf.

18+ only. Please drink responsibly.

Our Thursday Wine Tasting Club runs on the third Thursday of every month, each time with a new theme. Next month: English Wine Week.

Summer Feast on the Terrace

2 5 T H J U N E | 7 : 3 0 P M - 9 : 3 0 P M

Join us for a relaxed summer evening on the Abbey Mill terrace as part of A Taste of Winchester and English Wine Week.

For one night only, we’re bringing together Field & Furnace’s signature steak, great wine, and a laid-back courtyard atmosphere right in the heart of the city.

Guests will enjoy locally farmed steak from Westlands Farm Shop, served takeaway-style in rustic brown boxes, with chips, salad and homemade sauces, while our terrace hatch bar pours wines (including English wines from local winery BlackChalk), and soft drinks.

With festoon lights overhead, candles on the tables and the Abbey Gardens just beyond the terrace, this is all about good food, good wine and a lovely summer evening spent outdoors.

Expect a casual summer feast with long sharing tables, flowing wine and a buzzing courtyard atmosphere.
